CuCo2O4 nanotubules synthesized by electrospinning method show reversible capacity of 767 mAh g-1 at 0.375 C with good stability tested up to 360 cycles. At a current density of 1.25 C, a fairly impressive capacity of 553 mAh g-1 is seen during rate performance analysis.

A rhodamine B based chemosensor (R1) was synthesized through simple condensation process for selective sensing of Fe3+ ion with off-on mechanism in semi-aqueous medium up to ppb level concentration and its biological application in vitro DL-tumor cell with high proliferation. The theoretical DFT calculation was carried out to support all the experimental and photo-physical studies of R1 and R1:Fe3+.

NMR Spectroscopy Metabolomics Applied to Crack Cocaine Users and Patients with Schizophrenia: Similar Behavior but Different Molecular Causes
Crack-cocaine abuse causes significant metabolomic changes that provoke behavior alterations, which easily can be mistaken for positive symptoms of schizophrenia. 1D and 2D NMR analyses combined with chemometrics point to biomarkers that suffered alterations in the studied populations. Thus, NMR-based metabolomics, differently of what we might assume by comparing symptoms, showed that molecular differences between these two morbidities are easy to detect.

New Quinoline Linked Chalcone and Pyrazoline Conjugates: Molecular Properties Prediction, Antimicrobial and Antitubercular Activities
Two novel series comprising of forty two compounds have been synthesized by conjugating quinoline scaffold with chalcone as well as pyrazoline motifs. All the synthesized conjugates were tested for their antibacterial, antifungal and anti-tubercular activities. Among the title conjugates, compounds 4 j and 7 b were found to be the promising candidates exhibiting MIC 4 μg/mL against B. subtilisMTCC 121 and M. luteus MTCC 2470. Moreover, several conjugates significantly inhibited growth of certain fungal organisms. Furthermore, some of the conjugates displayed moderate anti-tubercular activity against both H37RV as well as RifR strains and these derivatives showed a good in vitro activity/toxicity ratio.

Synthesis, Characterization, DFT Study, Catechol Oxidase and Phenoxazinone Synthase Like Activities of Two New Manganese(IV) Schiff Base Complexes
Two distorted octahedral manganese(IV) complexes have been prepared and characterized. Supramolecular networks generated through non-covalent forces including C−H⋅⋅⋅π and Br⋅⋅⋅Br interactions have been studied energetically. Both complexes show catechol oxidase and phenoxazinone synthase like activity.

Guest displacement competition experiments in solution lead to a clear ranking of guest selectivity according to 1H NMR analysis, which, in turn, is supported by solid-state X-ray crystallographic analysis.

You've been framed: 3-(Benzo[b]thiophene-3yl)-5-fullero-1-methylpyrrolidinepyridine (BTFP) is revealed to be energetically like phenyl-C61-butyric-acid-methyl-ester (PCBM). BTFP exhibits close similarity to PCBM in terms of the first reduction potential values (−0.62 and −0.61 V vs. Ag/AgCl, for BTFP and PCBM, respectively) and lowest occupied molecular orbital energy level values (3.93 eV in both cases).

The cover picture shows some of the many accidental oxidation-product hits formed in the unsuccessful attempts to generate the ring-expanded target lactam or lactone from octaethyloxochlorin by using classic ring-expansion reactions (Baeyer–Villiger, Beckmann, and Schmidt reaction conditions); only one, — and also unexpected — ring-expanded product could be made. The work highlights how the conformation constraints within a porphyrin macrocycle thwart the expected outcomes of classic name reactions. Details are discussed in the consecutive Full Papers by C. An asymmetric synthesis of α-spiro-δ-lactams by an organocascade reaction by enantioselective Michael addition of β-ketoamide to α,β-unsaturated aldehyde catalyzed by a secondary amine catalyst, followed by hemiaminal annulation, is reported. Optically enantiopure compounds with three stereogenic centres are obtained in good yields and excellent selectivities (up to >20:1 dr and up to >99 % ee).

Sterically Constrained and Encumbered: An Approach to the Naturally Occurring Peptidomimetic Tetrahydropyrazino[1,2-<i>a</i>]indole-1,4-dione Core
The formation of constrained peptidomimetic piperazinone-2,5-diones through the intramolecular alkylation of Joullié–Ugi adducts is described. Sterically encumbered peptidomimetic compounds based on the scarce tricyclic piperazine-2,5-dione core are prepared in good yields.

Ruthenium-Catalyzed Cross-Metathesis of Allyl Acetate and Styrenes: A Practical Approach to the Synthesis of Tripolinolate A and Its Analogs
The cross-metathesis between allyl esters and variously substituted styrenes is discussed. The reaction is efficiently catalyzed by Hoveyda–Grubbs second-generation catalyst in perfluorinated toluene and provides cinnamyl acetates in reasonable yields. The presented method is utilized in the synthesis of natural products that exhibit anticancer activity.
